Boat Cleaning, Done Where Your Boat Is Moored

In The Clear Auto Marine provides professional boat cleaning for boat and yacht owners across South East Queensland. We do the work on-site at your marina berth, private pontoon or home. Salt crust, scum lines, exhaust soot and bird droppings build up faster than most owners can keep on top of. Left sitting, they start to stain and dull the finish. Our team washes and decontaminates your vessel with marine-specific products, so it stays presentable and its surfaces last longer. We work across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.

What Our Boat Cleaning Covers

A proper job goes further than a hose-down after a day out. Depending on your vessel and how it’s used, we can take care of:

  • Hull, topsides and deck washdowns to remove salt, grime and scum lines
  • Removal of exhaust residue from the transom
  • Bird droppings and fish residue removed before they stain
  • Water spot and mineral deposit removal from gel coat and glass
  • Stainless rails and fittings polished
  • Teak cleaning
  • Regular maintenance washdowns to keep a detailed or coated boat looking its best

If your vessel needs more work, such as oxidation removal or protection, we’ll tell you at the inspection and explain why.

Why Regular Cleaning Matters on the Water

Most marine grime is more than a cosmetic problem:

  • Saltwater dries into crystals that leave spots and dull the gel coat.
  • Bird droppings are acidic and fish residue stains.
  • Exhaust soot bonds to the transom the longer it sits.
  • In hard water, mineral deposits etch into glass and shiny surfaces.

Combined with Queensland UV, this contamination speeds up oxidation. That’s the chalky fading that eventually needs a cut and polish to fix.

Regular washdowns are the simplest way to slow that process down. The right products matter here too. We only use marine-specific products, with Starke Yacht Care as our main range. Household and automotive cleaners can be too harsh for gel coat, or leave residues that attract more grime.

How Our Boat Cleaning Works

  1. Inspection and Quote

We start with a free, no-obligation on-site inspection. We look at the condition of the hull, deck, metalwork, glass and teak. Then we recommend a cleaning plan that suits how often you use the boat.

  1. Wash and Decontamination

We wash the vessel with marine-safe products, working through salt, scum, exhaust residue and bonded contaminants. We treat stubborn marks such as water spots and mineral deposits separately.

  1. Detail Work

Stainless fittings, glass and teak get individual attention, so the smaller surfaces get the same care as the hull.

  1. Final Check and Maintenance Plan

We walk around the boat with you, point out anything worth keeping an eye on and suggest a maintenance washdown schedule.

What Regular Professional Cleaning Does for Your Boat

Keeps It Looking Ready to Use

A well-kept boat is one you’re happy to take out at short notice, without spending the first hour scrubbing.

Slows Down Wear on the Finish

Removing salt, bird droppings and exhaust residue promptly reduces staining and helps the gel coat hold its condition for longer.

Makes Bigger Work Less Frequent

Boats maintained regularly usually need less correction work down the track, because contaminants aren’t left to do damage.

Boat Cleaning FAQs

How often should my boat be cleaned?

For most vessels, we recommend quarterly maintenance cleans and at least one full detail a year. Boats kept in the water year-round or used every week may need cleaning more often. We’ll suggest a schedule after inspecting your boat.

Can you clean my boat at the marina?

Yes. We work at marinas across the region and are fully insured, with the correct tickets and licences in place. We can also clean your boat at home or on a private pontoon if there’s good access, power and water.

Do I need to do anything before you arrive?

Just remove personal items, tenders and boards from the vessel. That lets our team move around safely and reach every surface.

What’s the difference between boat cleaning and boat detailing?

Cleaning removes surface grime and contaminants to keep the boat maintained. Marine detailing goes further, with cut and polish to remove oxidation and protection such as marine ceramic coating. Many owners combine a yearly detail with regular cleans in between.

Can you clean a boat that has a ceramic coating?

Yes. Regular washdowns with the right products are part of looking after a coating. We also offer annual coating inspections and top-ups to keep it performing.
